The Toyota Harrier which is presented on Tokyo Auto Show this year, gives us some prohibited information about the company’s another vehicle, the Lexus RX. Next model of Lexus RX, fourth in a row, will arrive next year in USA showrooms. The changes that this vehicle experienced in 2012, are a minor facelift compared to a redesigned 2015 Lexus RX version.
2015 Lexus RX: Changes
This car is always offered with few engine options to choose. Restyled 2012 Lexus RX is offered in several different versions, but the base model’s are the RX 350 with 3.5- liter 2GR-FE V-6 engine that produce 275 horsepower and is paired to a six-speed automatic transmission. Also there is a 2015 Lexus RX 350 F-Sport that has almost the same performances as model before, but is mated to a eight-speed automatic transmission and has a special offer of sport features. Beside that there is also a hybrid version, Lexus RX 450h which comes with a 3.5- liter 2GR-FE V-6 engine and produce 245 horsepower at 6000 rpm, and also the electric engine power of 22 horses. The petrol powertrain from hybrid version has new inverter which makes him stronger, and basic 247 horses turn to 297 horses. In 2010 was unveiled Lexus RX 270, for Asian market. That vehicle has a 2.7- liter 1AR-FE inline-four engine, and that was enough for customers with lower budget and also the ones who take care abut fuel economy. Although Japanese automaker maybe introduce some innovation, we do not expect big changes in engine segment. It is realistic to see 8-speed automatic transmission offered in all versions, and not just in Lexus RX F-Sport.
Beside the fact that 2015 Lexus RX will stay the SUV as its predecessor, it will survive a great changes especially in exterior design. The 2015 version will arrive with a restyled grille, updated headlights, changed rear area of the SUV, and also updated taillights. The interior won’t be excused from changes, too. The Asian automakers are known as perfectionists and that is not a surprise when new model come with technology and design innovation.
The Lexus RS is produced in Japan and Canada, and that will also be the case with new RX. This new 2015 Lexus RX version is expected to show up next year, and to present main competitor in the market for SUV’s like Audi Q5, Lincoln MKX or Cadillac SRX.
